An Apprenticeship is a combination of on and off the job learning and development. As an apprentice, you'll gain work experience, and achieve a nationally recognised qualification, whilst earning a wage. We have an Apprentice IT Application Specialist post based within Digital Services at Riverside House, where you will be based in an open-plan office and work in small teams within the larger ICT Department and have the opportunity to experience the wider use of IT within the Council. You will be trained and supported as you learn to do each task and supported as you work towards your qualifications too. This will give you the skills and knowledge to work effectively and efficiently with IT systems, communication and productivity tools and software applications. To apply for the post you must have: •GCSE Grade A*-C, or GCSE Grade 9-4 from August 2017, or equivalent in Maths and English. •Practical knowledge of computer applications & ICT to include word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, internet & e-mail •Ideally, some knowledge of the use of ICT in large organisations You must be prepared to achieve a Level 2 or Level 3 (depending on prior experience) Apprenticeship framework in IT Application Specialist within the timescale year and work with a selected training provider as required to achieve this. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Business Application Support Team who support and develop a number of Business Applications that are used across the Council and will primarily involve liaising with appropriate staff (including Schools) to ensure that the Education Management System (Capita ONE) is kept up to date with changes from all Rotherham Schools in order to continuously improve the information held. This will involve assisting, under supervision and with support, the team in : •processing files received from schools •supporting the electronic transfer of data •following up on data errors and inconsistencies in line with data quality procedures •carrying out routine data checking and cleansing of the data transferred •resolving discrepancies with the data
