Organisers of a popular business event are inviting companies from across the Sheffield City Region to inspire this year’s school leavers and give them an opportunity to build their future career.
‘Apprenticeships: Be Inspired’ returns to Sheffield next March, the event will give businesses thinking of recruiting apprentices over the summer months in 2016, a chance to meet school Y11s, Y12s and Y13s from across the Sheffield City Region.
Organised by Skills Made Easy, a unique programme funded by the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership, the popular event saw more than 500 school leavers attend this year’s event, with more than 200 apprenticeship vacancies on offer from local and national employers.
Taking place at Ponds Forge on Wednesday 2nd March 2016 between 1:30 and 4:30pm; businesses thinking of recruiting an apprentice in 2016 can apply for a free exhibition stand at the event and a fantastic opportunity to meet a very high standard of candidate.
For the first time the event will be open to employers from across the whole of the Sheffield City Region, with school leavers from Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, North East Derbyshire, Bolsover, Bassetlaw and Chesterfield also attending.
Over the past three years, Skills Made Easy has helped more than 1300 young people into an apprenticeship, whilst helping employers to overcome skills shortages. One company which benefitted directly from the last event was regional accountancy practice BHP Chartered Accountants.
Alison Beal, HR Manager for BHP Consulting said:
“Sourcing apprentices is a key part of our recruitment strategy. Attending ‘Apprenticeships: Be Inspired’ helped us to strengthen our existing links with schools and further education providers, providing us with an opportunity to speak to some promising young students.
“During the event we met several keen, enthusiastic and personable students who were interested in pursuing an accountancy career post-A level and, ultimately, two of these students joined us in the summer under the Higher Apprenticeship programme. They are currently working towards the CFAB qualification, which forms the introductory element of the prestigious ACA qualification. The first step to becoming a fully qualified accountant.”
Laura Hayfield, Programme Manager at Skills Made Easy said:
“Apprenticeships: Be Inspired is a unique event. Young people do not get many opportunities to meet directly with employers who are specifically looking to recruit at the time they are leaving school, and this is a brilliant chance to find out more about their options and make vital connections.”
“We are looking for employers who are thinking of expanding their workforce over the next twelve months to take part in the event. There’s no cost to the business and no hidden catches: It’s a chance for them to meet motivated and enthusiastic young people who are seriously considering the apprenticeship route.”
The ‘Apprenticeships: Be Inspired’ event will take place at Ponds Forge, Sheffield on Wednesday 2nd March 2016 between 1:30 – 4:30pm. It is completely free to attend and there are limited places available for businesses to book a stand.
